Some albums are just projects—collections of songs meant to capture a moment. But for Livingston, A Hometown Odyssey (The Story Continues) is something deeper. It’s a realization. A reflection. A defining chapter in his journey as an artist.
When I caught up with the rising Texas pop star on March 5, we dived into the evolution of his artistry and what this new era means for him.
I asked:
"In this new era of Livingston, how do you want to evolve and present yourself as an artist? Do you feel that A Hometown Odyssey will be a defining moment in that journey?"
His response was nothing short of profound.
“You know when you start to tour a lot as an artist, you discover what your music actually is to people. I think before touring—I definitely had an idea of what this was or what I wanted it to be. But now after playing in 70 shows on this album, I have a really clear idea of why people actually show up. And it’s because regardless of age, where they’re from, or what they believe, with the struggles in their life, people have really complex inner stories that they are looking for some sort of clarity and help and guidance to help them get through."
He continued, "That’s what music was for me when I was a kid, and all that I want to be is for anyone in that, or those who’s trying to find and put one foot in front of the other in their story. Just create a soundtrack for them and a place where they feel very powerful and very in control of their destiny.”
The deluxe edition of A Hometown Odyssey, which dropped on March 7 , aims to solidify that mission. With nine new tracks, Livingston says the extended album brings an even more confident sound.
Following the release, he took to Instagram to share just how much this project means to him.
“A HOMETOWN ODYSSEY (The Story Continues) is yours forever. I had the idea for this album 8 years ago. This was a pipe dream in high school.
You, every single one of you, have crystallized it into a story that has now taken me across the world twice—only to realize that I was never alone. I made these songs when I thought I was the only one in the world who felt this way. Until I met all of you.
This is only the beginning. I will continue to learn, discover, grow, and use music as a prism for this chaotic and beautiful life that I’ve been given. I am honored that we get to share this journey.
Why do a deluxe album with 9 tracks? I wanted to hold on to these emotions. The first time I fell in love. The moment I found music.
I hope they can spark wonder in you. Hold on to that spirit. Godspeed.”
Livingston isn’t just making music, he’s creating deep connections with his listeners. And that connection continues this spring when he embarks on his North American tour, The Story Continues kicking off May 6 in Phoenix, AZ.
