On Tuesday, November 12, Afrofuturist R&B and soul artist Tanerélle took the stage at the Bronze Peacock Room inside the House of Blues, marking Houston as the second stop on her tour. The Electric Honey Tour, named after her recently released sophomore album, transformed the intimate venue into a moment for many to enjoy.
Tanerélle's Journey From Wish To Reality
The night opened with an electrifying set by guest DJ HYPERFEMME, a local Houston favorite celebrated for her mastery of house mixes and commanding presence in the underground music scene.
When Tanerélle took the stage, draped in a shimmering golden one-piece, the atmosphere shifted from anticipation to pure awe. Originally from Atlanta, GA, Tanerélle captivated the audience with her sultry vocals and magnetic charisma. Her hour-long set featured songs like ‘I Wish’ and ‘Us,’ as well as a breathtaking rendition of Sade’s ‘No Ordinary Love.’
The tour celebrates Tanerélle’s second album, Electric Honey, released on November 1, 2024, just days before its Dallas kickoff on November 11. Clocking in at a compact yet captivating 32 minutes, the album spans 12 tracks, showcasing her growth and artistry nearly a decade after her debut album, 11:11.
Tanerélle didn’t just perform; she connected. Throughout the show, the 'I Wish,' singer engaged directly with her audience, making every individual feel like part of the experience. At one point, she stepped off stage, weaving through the crowd and creating a moment of intimacy between fans, which is rarely seen in live performances. Midway through her set, Tanerélle paused to reflect on her journey, sharing with fans,
"I wished that I would be here, and now I’m here. This has happened. Like my inner child is like, that’s us?"
"I Hope That This Was A Safe Space For You"
The Electric Honey Tour stop in Houston was more than a concert; it was an experience of sound, style, and spirit. Tanerélle’s ethereal presence and powerful artistry remind us why she remains a force in neo-soul, charting her path with authenticity and grace. Ending the concert set, she told fans,
“I hope that this was a safe space for you.”
As fans left the Bronze Peacock Room, many carried not just the sound of Tanerélle’s voice but the feeling of being truly seen. If you missed this stop, catch her on tour—you won’t want to just hear it, you’ll want to feel it.
